OUR GOALS FOR 2004
BUILDING A SOLID FOUNDATION!
1. EVERY MEMBER has created a character and it is Developed.
This means that a member must have a character to work from and have it developed to the point of taking it to the next level.... A sign of a DEVELOPED CHARACTER is one that is “inked” And ready for copy!
2. EVERYONE in the guild has a FIRM GRASP on how to Create a good comic.
We describe a “Firm Grasp” as a working knowledge of how cartoons are
created. Our definition of a ”GOOD COMIC” is one of both artistic excellence and that
of poetic justice Of a well read cartoon. In other words, we expect cartoons created in GOOD taste, and expect The guild to follow Basics of Art, and understanding of Cartoon History, as well as be able to Identify "Masters" of the craft of cartooning. In this, it will grow a desire to love this form of art, as well as respect the art of cartooning. This then will encourage the cartoonists to use their God given talent and imaginations wisely To produce good quality cartoons!
3. EVERYONE should have a clean, professional Art style.
The Artwork created at the Two Trees Comic Guild must look EXCELLENT. All artwork that we show must be of professional quality ready for print. It does not matter what ”style” the cartoons are drawn in, the main goal is that ALL of the Cartoons created are “inked”, (minus of pencil marks) and drawn in a style
that is readable To the public. We discourage language that is fowl, and unprofessional, yet we also deem art- Work that is sloppily prepared as unprofessional as well. Working CLEAN means that we expect Minds and hearts to be clean as well. Although, we can sometimes get ”warped” in our creative Work.... We expect lines to be drawn where some stories lines go, as well as to where they end
Up as finished pieces. THIS, however, will be drawn by the group itself and will be voted on as a group to where the lines are drawn.
4. The Guild must be a smooth running machine....
One that does many things, yet works as a unit to help The members of this guild grow in the art of cartoons. This Guild is a "mechanism" that will help promote the artist, as well as help the artist to Grow in artistic excellence, and in character development, both on paper and off. We expect this guild to be open to ANYBODY who wishes to create cartoons. This is not a club Or organization that is exclusive, yet it is inclusive for those who wish to create cartoons. We want to see this guild help each other when help is needed, promote each other when it is Time to get the work out.... And work together in creative criticism to build trust between each member as to their own creations. Being a mechanism.... It is vital for the guild to realize that if through the runs of everyday life, a guilder runs into a person who wants to be a part of this guild to present the opportunity to them to come along too! To keep the process going at a pace where we ALL SHINE together as creators of cartoons.
We hopefully want to SEE this guild grow.
But, we must focus on our task at hand....
“Build a STRONG FOUNDATION”.
